Today at work during lunch, I was making my usual rainbow salad (of late. its baby lettuce, raw peas, kidney beans, tomatos, sunflower seeds (2 tbs) and a small amount of cheese crumbles (2 tbs), with Paul Newman's lighten up Olive oil and red wine vinegar dressing (also 2 tbs) today I added a hard boiled egg, but you can add almost any veggie you like), and I heard one of my friends talking on her cell phone.

Thinking nothing of if since we were in the break room, I continued making my lunch. Pretty soon I heard something that caught my attention.

"Yeah she's lost quite a bit, you can really tell" which I only made a mental note of, bu tthen..

"No she's just eating really healthy, she's putting hard boiled egg on her salad now".

OKay back up the phone one minute. I know when I"m being talked about. Especially since a moment later she asked me how much I lost and then reported it back to whoever she was talkking to.

WTF!??!?!

I didn't ask her who she was talking to, I should have but ummm as I said

WTF..

I'm company gossip now!?!?

I'm not sure if I should be flattered or insulted or both.

Things are looking up on the teenager front. He's still acutely 13, but he seems to have made a bit of an attutude adjustment.

Last night we actually got in some quality mom and son bonding. He wasn't feeling so hot (possible ear infection, I'm going to give it a day or so, if he's stilf in pain tommorrow I'll take him to the doctor, which should be interesting. I'll 'splain in a minute).

Since he was tired and a bit under the weather, he wanted me to massage his head and back, like I always do when his is down, sick or just in one of those moods. It was nice to have a quiet conversation with him, and to remember all the good times. It's nice to know even when they get big, sometimes they still need thier mommies.

Its so hard as a single mom with a boy. Its tough to draw the line sometimes between caring involved mom, who is close to her son, and Norma Bates/Mrs. Vorhees territory.

I think I've depended on him as a built in buddy for too long. He's starting to sprout wings and my job hard as it is, is to teach him to fly.

Thankfully we have several years before he leaves the nest. It will give me time to mourn the passing of the little boy who isn't anymore.

*** the reason it should be interesting if I have to bring him to the doctor is that it is customer service week at work. One of the forced bonding activities is "Who wants to be a (insert company name)aire". People caught with great calls are given an invite and then partnered up to play company version of the better know tv show. I got an invite and its on my day off. UGH. Not only are we forced to participate in silly games, I have to come in on my day off to do it. Can you tell I hate that stuff. You want to motivatte me, waive some Jeffersons, Lincolns and Franklins in front of me.***

Mini-Bio

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.

I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.

I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
