The dentist visit was kind of a good news bad news deal. No root canal or tooth removal in my immediate future, however it looks like I have a psuedo-peridontal pocket, or something like that. Basically I need to brush that area better. ummm Yeah... or if it doesn't continue to get better than it may also be a case of my wisdom teeth on that side having temper tantrum set off by the band they used when they filled my teeth. Wonderful..for 34 years they lie dormant, not a problem. Now all of a sudden one filling and they pitch a hissy fit.. doesn't sound very wise to me.

On the brightside, Warren had a great if exhausting first day of 4th grade. He loves his teacher, at least so far. He did his homework with just a little bit of fuss, probably because it was just math, and he can whiz thru that. I just wish he would eat more at lunch time. They get a snack time in the day, but when he gets home, he is like a hog at the trough. Today he had a bowl of cereal when he got home and still put away two sloppy joes (the kind on full bread) and two big helpings of mac and cheese. And an hour later when we went out, he had room for an ice cream cone. I wish I knew where the kid put it all. He's heavy, but he's solid, not tubby. I can't believe the kid ate twice as much as I did, or wanted to. I know he's a growing boy, but at this rate, I wonder if I can afford to keep up with him.

Right now I'm just flashing back. VH1 is reruning thier I love the 70's. I don't remember the early 70's very well, seeing as I was born in '69, but the later years are pretty funky to look back at. Its like reliving a part of my childhood. Ironically they are doing 1979 right now, which the year I was the same age, Warren is now. Only I was in 5th grade, because my folks thru me in to first grade two weeks after my 6th birthday. (but hey I graduated at 17, so it worked out). I loved CHiPS and BJ and the Bear. I hadn't seen those shows in years. And when I was little I actually wrote a letter to Santa asking for Weebles. (They wobble but they don't fall down), and I got it read on tv, by Santa. Yet the big fool still didn't deliver. His helpers never could take a good hint. LOL!!!

I actually also remember Pop Rocks. I still love those things. I found some once and gave a taste to Warren, who tried them and then looked at me like I tried to poison him. LOL.. must be the generation gap. I tried to get Warren to watch some of it this weekend, but much like when he found out his mom once had crimped 80's hair, it was just to much for him to take. He gave me one of those "What planet are you from" looks, before he madea comment about me being old people and going back to watching Pokemon cartoons. Actually it reminds me a lot of when I was a kid and my folks would talk about the 30's and 40's.

Okay when did I turn in to my parents, and why didn't somebody warn me about this phenomena. I can't believe I actually heard my self say the most dreaded words that every kid promises they will never say to thier kids, "Back when I was your age..." I know it was my mouth that was talking, but I'm positive those were not my words. Nope not me. I'm too cool to ever resort to that. Shhh I'm a cool mom okay, I'd like to keep at least one illusion going here. I've got a son telling me how out of touch I am, because I grew up way back when tv's had antenna's and music came on cassettes, and $1.00 for a gallon of gas was an outrage, not a bargain. Man I really am old.

Mini-Bio

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.

I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.

I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
