In which I really need a shower

I was not able to take a shower today as the tub decided it no longer wanted to drain. The water from yesterday's shower was still in there this morning. Plunging doesn't work and I'm not buying a snake. I called the landlord last night so the maintenance person / plumber better have it fixed. Warren is sitting at home, since a yucky bathtub is a lousy reason to miss work.

We had a great drive to Mom's house. Since I managed to birth a night owl (something I used to be pre-Warren), so we arrived about 6 am. Luckily my mom is a total early bird. I can't ever remember her not being up in time to wake the roosters.

It's about a 400 mile trip (644 KM for my non American friends), which is a lot of sitting. Since Warren did almost all of the driving, I was able to catch up on some more of Game of Thrones which seems to be my current addiction / fad. Oddly my kindle didn't make me nauseous like books do.

Warren was amazed at the truck traffic there was at 5 am. Driving in the dark with the twist turny hilly road of the badlands in a state that can't be bothered with guard rails despite a 20 foot drop off, is nobody's idea of fun (unless you're an adrenaline junky with a death wish). Passing is not recommended. He was amazed on the way back when he saw what he had been driving through.

I don't miss much about where I grew up, but I must say the scenery is one of the few things I do miss. North Dakota's east and west halves might as well be two different states for all the differences, both political and otherwise. The east is valley that looks like it was steamrolled flat. The western part is very hilly and rough. It's call the badlands for a reason. Where I grew up isn't as rough as the southwestern area, but it does have lots of hills and buttes, lots of green and gold.

As much as I was thrilled to see my mom who sadly isn't getting any younger and can't do all she used to do, there is definitely no place like home. Warren was also happy to see her since he doesn't get there very often. We also made her happy by attending Easter Saturday services, two plus hours of Catholic Mass as it was baptism and indoctrinationinduction of converts night. I kept looking for the lightening to strike. Even the priest managed to soak me when he did the water sprinkling, sort of a re-baptism.

I haven't exactly won the lottery, trust me the world would know, but I have managed to come in to some extra cash enabling us to finally get caught up on bills and get a few much needed extras.

Finally good news

Mini-Bio

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.

I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.

I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
