Me in Musical Lyrics
Well I decided to do that song lyric survey that some of my fellow SWC were doing in their diaries. Man when they said that was hard, they weren’t kidding. As you can tell, I have a rather mixed and different taste in music.
Who are you?
“When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.” Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd
“I am I said To no one there
And no one heard at all not even the chair
I am I cried
I am said I
And I am lost and I can't even say why
Leaving me lonely still
Did you ever read about a frog Who dreamed of being a king?
And then became one
Well except for the names and a few other changes If you talk about me The stories the same one
But I've got a emptyness deep inside
And I treid but it wont let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I never cared for the sound of being alone” I am I Said by Neil Diamond
What do you look like?
,“She is like a cat in the dark And then she is the darkness She rules her life like a fine skylark And when the sky is starless..” Rhiannon by Stevie Nicks (sung by Fleetwood Mac)
What's your secret?
““Remember what the dormouse said:
"Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head"” White Rabbit By Grace Slick (and no in this case I am not referring to drugs although if you listen to the song in its entirety it could be taken that way, but I see it a different way, a statement on the hypocrisy of society.)
What do you want to be?<
”I wanna go on the red- I wanna go on the green I wanna go on all colors that I see in between I wanna run all the tolls- I wanna run all the signs I wanna run all the way across a double white line” Peel Out by Meatloaf (again I am not sure who wrote the lyrics)
What can't you do?
“When I'm drivin' in my car, and the man come on the radio He's tellin' me more and more about some useless information Supposed to fire my imagination I can't get no. Oh, no, no, no. Hey, hey, hey That's what I say I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction 'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try I can't get no, I can't get no..” I Can’t Get No Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones (lyrics and music by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger)
“I fight authority, Authority always wins I fight authority, Authority always wins I been doing it since I was a young kid I come out grinnin' I fight authority, Authority always wins” Authority Song by John Cougar Mellancamp
What is love?
“Everyone needs a hand to hold on to Everyone needs a hand to hold on to Don't need to be no strong hand Don't need to be no rich hand Everyone just needs a hand to hold on to” Hand to Hold On To by John Cougar Mellancamp
What are you afraid of?
“The game of life is hard to play I'm gonna lose it anyway. The losing card I'll someday lay so this is all I have to say” Suicide is Painless by Johnny Mandel (better known as the theme to M*A*S*H)
Are you strong?
“And when the night is cloudy there is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow, let it be I wake up to the sound of music,
Mother Mary comforts me Speaking words of wisdom, let it be Let it be,
let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer,
let it be Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be Whisper words of wisdom, let it be” Let it Be by The Beatles
“You used to say live and let live
You know you did You know you did You know you did
But if this ever-changing world in which we live in Makes you give in and cry
Say live and let die
Live and let die” Live and Let Die by Paul McCartney (this is another song that can be taken the wrong way.. interesting contrast to John Lennon’s lyrics wouldn’t’ you say). <
What would you do with a million dollars?
“I'll give you all I've got to give If you say you love me too I may not have a lot to give What I've got I'll give to you I don't care too much for money money can't buy me love Can't buy me lo-ove Everybody tells me so Can't buy me lo-ove No, no , no, no" Can’t Buy Me Love by the Beatles (written by Lennon / McCartney)
What would you tell the one who loves you?
“Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, before it's too late" Desperado by The Eagles
and in honor of my ex,
“You can't hide your lyin' eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide your lyin eyes" Lyin Eyes also by The Eagles
What do you want to do?
“I just want to be free I just want to be free
I want to be free of all the hurt
Free of all the pain
I want to just end these lonely hours
End these lonely days
I just want to be free I just want to be free
I just want to be free
I just want to be free “ Free by Chicago (Robert Lamn)
Where do you want to be?
“There's a place up ahead and I'm goin'
Just as fast as my feet can fly
Come away, come away if you're goin',
Leave the sinkin' ship behind.” Up Around The Bend J. C. Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
Who do you love?
“You who are on the road Must have a code that you can live by
And so become yourself Because the past is just a good bye.
Teach your children well,
Their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picks, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you will cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.
And you, of tender years, Can't know the fears that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth,
They seek the truth before they can die. Teach your parents well,
Their children's hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams The one they picks, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you will cry, So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.” Teach Your Children by Graham Nash
What do you want?
“Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world... : Imagine by John Lennon (I hope I don’t’ get too much heat for that one)
“I want my money back! I want my money back!
It's all or nothing, and nothing's all I ever get
Everytime I turn it on, I burn it up and burn it out
It's always something, there's always something going wrong
That's the only guarantee, that's what this is all about
It's a never ending attack, everything's a lie and that's a fact Life is a lemon and I want my money back” Life is a Lemon by Meatloaf (I am not sure who wrote it, I want to say Jim Steinman but I am not positive)

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.
I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.
I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
