Land of the broke

My friends in places with socialized and subsidized medicine have no idea how lucky they are.

I was blessed with a job that has excellent insurance (though not perfect and definitely not a Cadillac plan.) save for the dental plan which depending on what you needs pays any where from okay to squat. However I am still drowning in copays and deductibles. My meds are partially covered and have thankfully all gone generic but still take a chunk of change I would rather spend elsewhere.

A good friend of mine's husband has a medical condition that developed when he was a kid and needs constant monitoring. Now it has taken a turn for the worse leaving them basically tapped with medical bills along with the travel to and from the clinic (from St. Louis to Cleveland). I wish I could help but I'm barely making it as it is.

I found out this morning that one of Warren's friends has late stage cancer. I'm not sure what kind but according to Warren he has a 50-50 chance. He's ex military so I'm sure he has some benefits but I have no idea how much they pay. Warren seems really worried about him and I can't say I blame him.

I'm just so sick of our F-d up medical system, and people with great insurance or lots of money who seems think it's fine because they've no idea what it is like to go with out or have to decide which utility to pay and which to put off. And they damn sure don't know what it is like to have to be creative with your meals or get free food because homelessness is worse than hunger.

Sure could use a little good news.

Mini-Bio

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.

I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.

I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
