Reichspogromnacht aka Kristallnacht or Night of Broken Glass, may we never forget the ugliness to which man is capable. November 9/10, 1938. May we remember all those who perished and suffered because of man's hatred and need to blame others. Let's never forget our history, or repeat it. Somalia, Darfur, Rwanda, Iraq, Afgansistan, etc.. apparently the world still has not learned.

11/11/11, its not quite 11:11 but close enough. In memory of all but for me especially:

  1. My grandfather who earned his citizenship in WWI, but was lucky enough to not see combat, because the war ended before he would have been shipped out.
  2. My father who was drafted just after Korea, and would have served in that war were it not for a techincality that prevented the drafting of an only son needed to help his parents.
  3. Several of my cousins past adn current miliary, Tommy, Michelle {Mickey}, Neil and others.
  4. My Uncle George who I never met as he was shipped to Okinawa in one piece and came home in a box.
  5. My Uncle Lew {my marriage to my dad's sister} who served in Korea.
  6. My other Uncles Peter and Paul {very unidentical fraternal twins} who were drafted also around the time of Korea I believe
  7. A close family friend who survived Bataan and the ugliness of hatred
  8. To all who have gone to war and never came home, and to those children, spouses, and families left behind with out them
  9. Those who have been mangled, wounded, emotionally scared, or otherwise had thier lives ruined by war
  10. The countless civillians who have been caught in the middle and had thier lives ruined or destroyed by others hatreds, greeds and extreme religious doctrines.
  11. Anyone and everyone who has been touched by war
  12. Any and all Veterans past and present, living and dead. May we someday reach a point where soldiers are no longer needed as we've learned to settle our conflicts with out bloodshed.
When will humanity ever learn? Will we ever grow up and learn to get along and not force our views on others, to take what our neighbor has just cause we want it, to use religion as an excuse to justify hatred and the ugliness that results. Maybe someday we will evolve to that point, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. At least not with the people running the world right now.

And that is as political as I plan to get.

Mini-Bio

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.

I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.

I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
