Bad news and good news

I had such good news to share this morning, but then I turned on the news and was saddened to learn that the literary world has lost one of its greats {at least in my opinion}. Kurt Vonnegut passed away at the ripe old age of 84. I still have fond memories of reading Cat's Cradle during a very rough time in my life and laughing outloud, while also being forced to do some serious thinking. Let's all raise a copy of Slaughterhouse Five in his honor, now that he is in a place where he can be safe from the Pamela Hershlips of the world {local nutcase, always in the paper trying to ban some book or other from the schools, even if her kid isn't in the class or the school. I wished she just get a life already}. Here's to you Mr. Vonnegut.

Now on to the happy news. I am once again one of the mobile many. Yes, that is right, I am once again in possesion of my very own set of wheels, complete with working engine. Its not the newest or the hotest car, but it is in great shape, runs, is clean and is all mine. {thank you mom for everything. I love you, even if we don't have a normal mother daughter relationship. Sorry I wasnt' the daughter you had hoped for, but you got what you got}.

I have to think of a new name for my baby. But I haven't totally gotten to know his personality yet.

I'm in a bit of a hurry, so I don't have time to save, upload and post a picture, but here is a picture of the same car, though mine is maroon.

I still have to take care of title, insurance and all that fun stuff, but otherwise I'm back on the road, baby.

I don't like talking about how much I paid for things, but I did get it well under Bluebook, and the guy did a lot. It has 2 brand new tires, new distributor cap, rebuilt carburator, new plugs and a few other things I can't think of. Its kind of funny, actually. I bought it from a young couple that lives about three blocks east of me, and they bought it a few years ago from another neighbor a couple blocks north. The same car has just been floating around the neighvorhood for the last ten years or so.

Warren is thrilled. I am thrilled. No more getting up and leaving at the ass crack of dawn and no more taking two hours for what should be a 15 minute drive each way, for a one hour appointment. It means I can eat breakfast with Warren now, instead of him having to get up by himself and get ready for school on his own. Something he never really liked.

Best of all, now I can finally take advantage of my company discount, adn join the YmcA. I can't remember the exact discount but I know Warren and I can get a family membership for at least half if not less than the full price. I won't be walking as much, but I'll still be able to work out and get rid of some of this dingle dangle, before I wave hello to a passing friend and take out some poor little old lady.

But the clock is ticking, so I must be off {like a schizophrenics mind}.

Mini-Bio

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.

I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.

I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
