Fawning over baklava

I didn't exactly take a me day, as it seems other people's problems always seem to somehow become my emergencies. I did however get some good time in. I sat and watched cooking shows on PBS most of the morning {after ignorning my nasty alarm clock}. I had homemade pancakes for breakfast, with sunbutter {sunflower butter} and strawberry jam. Lunch was a veggie dog and sauerkraut sandwhich.

I also did a henna dye again. It's not bad, though not as auburny as I would have liked. I do have some cool coppery highlights though, thanks to my greys.

The major down part was doing three rounds with Schiessa, who was truly living up to his name for a good part of the day.

Highlights of today, were visiting my son, briefly. Attending my FM veg potluck I made vegan brownies. Got great compliments. I also took home a bunch of baklava,{traded for some brownies}. It is currently is calling me right now, but I'm ignoring it, or at least trying.

I also got to pet a fawn {and it didn't even bother welcoming me to Narnia}. Our group founder and fearless leader, is a bit of a too kind heart. He was putting flowers on a grave at a local cemetary and he saw the fawns {a week old at best twins} with no mama deer, so he took them in his car and tried to feed them milk {cow milk}, but they weren't interested. After a couple phone calls and a talk to the zoo, we got him to put them back, where mama will most likely find them. Deer tend to hide their young while they feed and such, so most likely mama was nearby. They sure were cute though. Such long skinny legs.

Side trip here, when my mom was growing up they had a pet deer they called Brownie. I'm not sure how they managed to make a friend out of it, but it loved people and would eat from your hand. I actually have pictures of my mom and aunts with the deer. I also know a girl I went to high school with that had a deer. But I don't recommend it. Deer are wild and need to live in a wild environment. Nature can be mean, but that's the way of the world. Unlike man, who is a whole nother issue, I won't bother with.

I cropped the photo of me, out of a group photo from a veg potluck a few weeks back. I didn't want to post pictures others with out their knowledge of consent. I think I look a lot better than I give myself credit for, but it could be the camera angle too.

Another side note. I've worn that Pink Floyd shirt to so many potlucks, that some people probably think its the only t-shirt I own.

Must not eat baklava. Must not eat baklava.

Mini-Bio

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.

I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.

I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
