How many have your name?

There are over 165, 000 Warren's in this country. But his last name is so unusual that it isn't even in the database.

On the brightside I'm down another two pounds. I'm officially in the 180's now.

I was so cold from being outside last night that even though the heat was cranked and I was under two warm blankets I coudln't warm up. I put my feet in a hot tub to warm them up and ended up taking a hot long bath which made me fall alseep almost immediately.

Today it was -25 when I woke up and left for work, with a -39 windchill. If I ever complain about the heat this summer, please slap me up five ways from Tuesday.

Tommorrow I get to go have another tooth removed, along with a substantial sum [for me] of money. Friday I get to finally go the the doctor appointment I missed on Monday.

Today was Warren's IEP meeting which went better than expected. He still has a long way to go, but he has also made some real strides. We'll have a better idea of things at the next meeting [part 2], when we've done the assorted testing.

Tonight it was just an easy night, dinner and Dead LIke Me DVDs. Dinner was my homemade chicken strips, my leftover corn and taters [yes corn and mashed potatos, I make from scratch, one of my favorite comfort foods. sometimes I use cream corn, but I like regular corn too], baked beans and Spinach.

word on the street is it may reach positive digits tommorrow.

I like living in ND. Yes it is cold a good share of the year, but it also gets quite hot in the summer. I like having distinct seasons. . Its also kind of a bragging thing. Coastal people talk about hurricane this or that, Californians brag about Earthquakes and NoDaks [and Mini-sotans] brag about suriving the winter of ". I remember growing up no matter what kind of winter it was my dad would always be able to compare it to a past winter. It's not nearly as cold as it was back in '42, or this is almost as mild as back in '72. I've even started doing it. I'm always comparing every winter to the winter of '96/97. No winter will ever compete with that one, 15 feet of snow, and the flood of the century when it melted. It is enough to make one forget the winter of '82/83 when the mercury actually reached -40, and the busses were late because it was so cold the diesel engines wouldn't start. I actually remember winchills of -50 as a kid, and Bismarck making the news a few times as one of the coldest places in the country.

It's not a place for wimps. I can't imagine what it must have been like for the poor homesteaders with out so much as an indoor toilet, much less heat that didn't require chopping wood, or fetching coal, or meadow muffins [think buffalo chips - they burn amazingly clean and warm, when dried out]. Even in the 30's and 40's when my dad and mom were kids, the bathroom was in a little shak out back, and in my dad''s case in the winter they were lucky enough to have a little portable chemical potty in the house, though my poor dad hated being the one who always had to empty it. He did say the grain would always grow a little bit higher in that part of the field. thought. :]

But winter isn't all bad, snowmobiling is awewome, I miss it so much. Warren loves sledding and climbing up that hill is a hella cardio workout. Cross country skiing and ice fishing are also quite popular around here. And the cold air definately gets ones blood flowing, even as it send the electric bill through the roof. You don't live in North Dakota, it lives in you. .

Mini-Bio

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.

I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.

I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
