The Good Son

Well, I'm happy to report that while my son has not given up his curiousity about the world, there have been no more expirments of the variety that could end up with a trip in an ambulence.

Having smart kids is great, I just wish they matured as fast as thier inteligence develops.

To be fair to Warren however he is good kid who has more than made up for his little incidents. Earlier this week, he was up early so he walked to the store with me before work (lucky for us he took his bike with). On the way to work I managed to have an incident the details of which are too humiliating to share, but suffice to say ended up with my clothes in a state that was not apropriate for going out in public, much less to work.

I didnt have time to run home and change or I would have been late. As it was I barely had time to make it to the bus. My sweet sweet boy, however was able to beat it home, grab his mom a clean change and beat the bus to the mall (where I have a 15 minute layover between buses). I love a boy who can pedal like the wind. I was able to make it to work on time, in clothes that were presentable and non offensive. I was more than grateful. So even though I do complain about him a lot (hey I'm his mother, I"m allowed I know him better than anyone), I have to be fair also. He is a very good kid, who has done a lot of good things. He cares more than he admits and he has a great heart. Then there are times like eearlier today, when he made me want to ppull his toes out, because he couldn't find his memory card and he had a hissy fit. But later got a grip, before he lost any digits.

The meeting with his PO last week went very well. Warren did a good job of admitting where he messed up and telling how he would handle it in the future. He got off, basically scott free, other than a small lecture on why it is a bad idea to lie to your mother.

In other good news, I have proof that when mom changes her eating habits it really does trickle down. Since I've stopped buying soda and chips and other junk and started making healthier from scratch meals and more veggies, I'm not hte only one benifiting. Warren is down one whole size in clothes. He also is looking better and had more energy.

He still eats some crappy stuff, but now he has to spend his allowance on it and ride or walk to the store, so that burns alot of it off. He is also growing taller at a rate you an almost watch, so that uses a lot of it. But he has so much more energy. The days of wasting entire afternoon in front of the tv are gone.

He is feeling much better about himself too. My lovely little 7th grader. Who thanks to both of use forgetting they were taking school pictures at registration is now going to be immortalized in 7th grade as the kid who had his picture taken with a red Baby Stewie T shirt and a grin that look a bit like somebody was holding a gun to his head.

Life around here has finally settled down to a low roar. Warren goes back to school on Thursday. Yes, Thursday. So he has two days of school followed by a three day weekend. I guess it makes sense for the school, but a bit weird for the rest of us.

I have a ton of homemade Vegetable Beef soup (with all garden fresh produce- even the corn), in the fridge calling my name. Time for some yummy dinner. I make a damn good soup, if I do say so myself. I have some homemade coleslaw adn bread sticks too (whole wheat yet). I think I've been possed by my grandmother, or Martha Stewart's not so evil twin sister.

For fun

Mini-Bio

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.

I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.

I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
