I've got that going for me, which is nice

I am so glad it is Friday. I feel like I can sleep for two days straight.

The numbers on the scale finally budged. Not much but at least I know I am back to moving in the right direction. My clothes are also fitting better and better, and muscle weighs more than fat, "so I have that going for me, which is nice". I am not quite "normal", whatever the hell that means, but I'm feeling better.

I wanted thank everyone for thier concern and advice. I really appreciate it. I do try to make sure I get good protein, I eat lots of whole grains, also add peanut butter or other nuts, and usually have a small serving of meat or fish about once a day or so. I also drink about 3 or 4 liters of water a day, depending on, so I know at least some of my weight at times is probably due to the water. I try to watch my salt, because I'm one of those unlucky types who is salt sensitive. I've seen my blood pressure jump 10 to 20 points after eating something salty. I also keep my saturated fats to a bare minimum of about 10 grams a day, using olive, canola or macadamia nut oil for cooking. Given where I work I can get very good olive and other oils for way less than retail.

I generally try to eat around 1600 or so calories a day. Enough that my body doesn't think it is being starved, but not enough that there is anything left to store. I also allow myself occasional treats, but am limiting my portions. One slice of pizza every couple weeks is okay, eating an entire pie, not so good. I also read all labels, and abstain from trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners and pretty much anything I can't pronounce or don't know what it is. Artificial sweeteners give me migraines, as do certain alcholic beverages which also make me flush red, like I'm having a hot flash. I've also found that since I've been eating more fish and adding fish oil to my diet my mood is much better.

I also make a point of walking on all of my breaks (except lunch) as well as anytime else I can fit it in. I also try to bike when I can, or did before my tire went flatter than a 10 year old boy. I'm hoping to add some swimming in this summer.

Its a struggle, but one day at a time, one day at a time, eventually we will get there.

On the kid front, my son is mad at me now because I won't buy him one of these. They are dangerous enough that you can't buy them if you are under 18, and my not quite yet 13 year old thinks he should be allowed to have one. I think not. Sorry not in this household, no guns ever unless it shoots water, and looks not real.

So he's been after me almost all night about this. Or rather almost all night. When I came home from work he couldn't wait to show me the model care he put together. His dad came by and gave him more money (I guess if you can't be a real dad, the next best thing is to pay him off). Warren rode to Wal Mart and bought the model, and also saw the guns on display. (can I scream at Wal Mart now).

The car was some sort of Lambourghini someting starting with a G. But I was amazed at how good of a job he did on it. He worked on it for over 3 hours. The kid can be amazing when he puts his mind to it. Of course he has a tendancy to sometimes use his mind for evil, but we are working on that.

Stupid three day weekend and I'm stuck working on Monday, because they didn't get enough volunteers so they had to volunter people. On the brightside, with holiday pay and time and a half I'm getting paid double and a half, so "I've got that going for me which is nice".

Mini-Bio

In every neighborhood there is at least one house that all the neighbors gossip about. This is a diary from the woman who lives in that house. I am a single mother in her mid thirties. I live in North Dakota with my son, Warren.

I tend to be a bit of a slob, and am the opposite of a girly-girl. I am geek girl, who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, action movies, science fiction, action adventure, Dr. Who, and so on and so on.

I love to write and while I don't post much fiction online anymore I would love to be a writer someday. I am also overweight, bipolar and suffer from allergy induced asthma.
